UV&S has a rich history rooted in providing secure offsite data storage and management services. From our first underground storage location to cloud storage to media restoration, we have consistently evolved to meet the changing needs of our clients. Our dedication to excellence and innovation has made us a trusted partner for businesses seeking to grow and succeed.
Each new service we’ve introduced has been driven by our commitment to helping our clients. We added NAID-certified destruction services to ensure the secure disposal of stored paper and media. As data increasingly transitioned to digital formats, we responded by offering secure data center services and network protection solutions. Our long-standing relationship with the entertainment industry led us to expand into event services and media digitization. Our growth has always been guided by one principle: putting our clients first.
What We're Most Known For
Underground Vaults & Storage, Inc. was officially incorporated on June 11, 1959, by a group of visionary business owners who recognized the need for a secure location to protect and manage information.
Their national search for the ideal site ended with the selection of a Salt Mine in Hutchinson, Kansas. The facility, developed from mined-out space, provided the perfect environment for the services they envisioned.
Centrally located and securely protected 650 feet underground, our first facility is perfect for storing client data and valuable items with its constant temperature and humidity. This initial success spurred growth through expansion and acquisition, leading us to operate across multiple states and countries while developing several specialized divisions. UV&S remains family-owned, upholding the original vision of protecting our clients’ most important assets and their reputation, while providing services that help them succeed.

Underground Vaults & Storage, branded as “UV&S” to better represent the varied services and subsidiaries we hold, supports clients worldwide. We provide secure storage and NAID-certified destruction. UV&S Events offers event and festival branding, design and show construction. UV&S Technology provides IT support and data center hosting services. R3store Studios, a division of UV&S, specializes in film restoration and digitization. Lead from our corporate headquarters in Hutchinson, KS, we operate from locations in the United States, United Kingdom, and France.
We proudly support Strataca, located in Hutchinson, Kansas. The underground museum is operated by the Reno County Historical Society and is unlike any other museum in the United States. Visitors to the salt museum enjoy a trip 650 feet below ground where they board a tram that takes them to over 100,000 square feet of galleries. One gallery is full of items loaned to the museum, through UV&S, from some of our Hollywood clients.
